Learning English Online

Before you learn English online, ask these questions

With the rise of online learning, there are now more options than ever for studying an online English Language course. But before you spend a lot of money on just any course, we have a few questions you should ask yourself to understand more clearly what type of English course you need to be looking for to achieve your own goals.

What are your goals for Learning English?

Before you start looking for an online English Language course, you must understand what aspect of your life you are learning English. Do you need to get into an English university course? You may want to travel to English-speaking countries. Or do you need English for work? Knowing your goals will help you narrow down your options and find a course that aligns with this goal.

What language skills do you need to improve?

Once you understand why you are learning English, you can focus on the areas of the language that you need for this goal. Do you need to know to write essays in English? Do you want to improve your conversational skills? Do you need help with grammar? Do you need specific vocabulary for work? This way, you avoid spending time on language content you are already proficient in and focus on strengthening your skills in the areas you need the most.

How much availability do you have to Learn English online?

If you are a student with free time, an intensive course with five lessons a week, such as our EC Live Premium course, would be the best option to progress faster. However, if you already have a full-time job or are busy raising a family, you might only have a few hours a week to learn English. In this case, our EC Live Standard course, with two weekly lessons, would be the best fit for you. Only start a course if you can dedicate sufficient time and energy towards your learning.

What are your expectations?

A clear understanding of your goals and needs can help you set realistic expectations for how long it will take you to reach fluency and what you can expect to achieve in a specific time frame. Setting realistic expectations is essential to avoid feeling demotivated during your learning progress.

How can you achieve your English goals faster?

There are many forms of courses you can choose. Consider choosing different learning modes, either through group classes or one-to-one private lessons specifically designed to help you reach your goals faster.
